  BodyTalk Orthopedic Evaluation Course
Prerequisites: Body Talk Module I and II, Health Care Professional

Course Description

Western Medicine tends to follow the Cartesian Model and treat the patient's physical symptoms locally, at the site of pain. The practitioner usually uses his or her own preferred form of treatment (i.e. medication, modalities, manual and/or exercise therapy) instead of searching for the source of the pain. However, it is well known that several patients can have the same location of symptoms yet have different causes for the pain. Therefore, as practitioners, we need to be thorough in our evaluations. In this course, designed for Body Talk Health Care Practitioners, key concepts from Body Talk Module I and II will be reviewed and integrated into a comprehensive orthopedic evaluation. Body Talk is a very effective procedure to help understand the complexity of the links behind the dysfunction and restore balance and well being to the client’s body and mind. What ever is happening internally in the body will be manifested externally in the tissues. Therefore, when there is improper communication in the body, you can feel the changes in the muscles, fascia, bone and joints, which can affect the range of motion of the body. In order for Body Talk to be fully accepted, we need to measure its effectiveness.

The focus of this course is to teach you how to find the dysfunctions in the client’s body using the Body Talk system and confirming your results with manual testing methods. In the course you will improve your palpation skills and feel physical lesions in the client’s body. The Body Talk Practitioner will learn to evaluate range of motion of the upper and lower extremities and the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Tension tests that determine bone and joint stiffness, muscle spasm, fascial tension and swelling will also be taught.

As Body Talk makes changes inside the body through restoration of communication, there is also a change in the external body, which can be measured. In this course you will see how environmental influences, stress, emotional and mental factors affect the physical body and learn to see and feel the corrections after a Body Talk session.

As a Body Talk Instructor, this course will help with class demonstrations. An evaluation procedure that can be done in whole or in parts, to measure the effectiveness of your Body Talk session, will be taught. It allows you to demonstrate and objectively measure how stress, environmental, and emotional issues can affect the physical body. As a Body Talk Practitioner, the manual procedures taught in this seminar will help you to quickly locate the problem areas and verify the dysfunction and the nature of the tissues involved. On completion of the Body Talk session, the therapist and the client should both be able to see and feel the changes made. This helps educate the client on the effectiveness of Body Talk. For those continuing in research or case studies, this course will provide objective measurement to validate your outcomes and provide increased credibility for Body Talk.
